Marcus Rashford’s ‘Man United exit clause expires’ as uncertainty grows over his future

  • Marcus Rashford’s £40 million exit clause from Manchester United has expired, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
  • The clause, which was not available to United’s biggest rivals Liverpool and Manchester City, expired on 15 July, meaning that any potential deal regarding Rashford later this summer will need to be negotiated.
  • Rashford spent last season on loan at Barcelona and the Catalan Giants had the option to buy him permanently for €30m (£26m), but opted not to.
  • Barcelona instead paid £70 million for Rashford’s England teammate Anthony Gordon, who looks set to replace Rashford on the left wing for Barcelona next season.
  • Rashford now looks set to report back for Manchester United training in the coming weeks amid uncertainty over his long-term future.
