Marcus Rashford trains at home as 'Premier League stars face being isolated until May'

Marcus Rashford is keeping himself fit by training at home with Premier League stars set to be in isolation for months.

The Manchester United striker has been out since January after suffering a back injury in an FA Cup clash with Wolves.

There were fears United would miss their leading marksman as the season entered its most important period.

But the postponement of all football due to the coronavirus pandemic pushed the season back.

Although with clubs no longer training Rashford's rehabilitation will now have to take place in his own home.

Premier League clubs do not expect to begin playing again until June 1 at the earliest with the country now in lockdown.

Games have been postponed until April 30 but that date is looking increasingly optimistic.

Top flight outfits anticipate returning to training on May 1 according to The Sun.

The Premier League has put some provisional dates in place which could see games staged behind closed doors from the first weekend in May.

Pressure is mounting from TV companies who want live games to be aired or they risk losing contracts that are worth billions.

The FA has agreed that the season will be extended "indefinitely" and has underlined its commitment no finishing the season with UEFA giving leagues until June 30 to conclude.

A statement read: "The FA’s Rules and Regulations state that 'he season shall terminate not later than the 1 June' and 'each competition shall, within the limit laid down by The FA, determine the length of its own playing season'.

"However, our Board has agreed for this limit to be extended indefinitely for the 2019-20 season in relation to professional football.

"Additionally, we’ve collectively agreed that the professional game in England will be further postponed until no earlier than Thursday 30 April."
