Marcus Rashford told he won't be a "clinical forward" amid Edinson Cavani comparisons

Marcus Rashford will not be the type of forward who scores 20 goals a season according to Andy Cole.

The former Manchester United marksman doesn't believe that the current Red Devils No 9 has "that clinical side in him".

Rashford has scored eight Premier League goals this season, but has 16 in all competitions.

Last term he bagged a career high 22 across all competitions.

The academy graduate has preferred to play from a wider position however, rather than through the middle.

Rashford has been compared to Edinson Cavani, who has made a career out of finding the net.

The Uruguayan has already put in some impressive performances for the Red Devils.

But Cole does not see Rashford following in the veteran's goal scoring footsteps.

“Marcus is not going to be a clinical centre-forward like a Cavani,” he told  talkSPORT.

“Marcus will nick himself a certain amount of goals season in, season out, but he won’t be that individual you’re looking for to score 20 to 25 goals. I don’t think Marcus has got that clinical side in him.

“If you look at what Man Utd have now with Cavani; you know what you’re going to get [with him], it’s as simple as that.”

Cavani's single season high came during his PSG days when he scored 49 in all competitions.

Across spells with the Parisians and Napoli the 33-year-old scored 20 plus goals for nine straight seasons.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a wealth of attacking options at his disposal with Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood also pushing for attacking berths.

Those two have not hit the heights they achieved last term thus far however.

United's attack has been the strongest part of their game since Solskjaer arrived and they've scored a league high 49 goals.
