Marcus Rashford sets Manchester United new challenge for 2020

Marcus Rashford is keen for Manchester United's consistency to continue in 2020 after they ended 2019 with two successive wins.

The victories for United over Newcastle and Burnley have put them firmly in the hunt for a top four spot, with Rashford in the goals for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

The England striker took his tally to 19 goals for club and country this season with a late breakaway strike at Turf Moor and revealed in an interview with United's official website how the players have coped with the busy festive schedule.

“It’s been difficult with two games in three days," he said after the Turf Moor win.

"Physically it’s tough, mentally we can always be in the right mindset for the game, but sometimes physically the body can let you down and today everyone was running until the 95th minute, so to get the three points after doing all that work is a nice feeling."

Rashford then set his United teammates a challenge for the New Year. Solskjaer's side have been up and down with their form this season but the two back-to-back wins have put them one point off fourth-placed Chelsea. Rashford has proven his own consistency in front of goal this term but it hasn't necessarily translated in to regular wins for the team.

“We’ve struggled to get back-to-back wins in the league, but it’s about keeping that momentum, keeping going forward and getting used to winning,”

“We’re not going to win every game prettily, it’s impossible in this league, so we’re going to have to grind some results out and today was one of those games.

“We take the three points and we move on and keep trying to improve.”
