Marcus Rashford sends Manchester United fans message after Man City win

Marcus Rashford is adamant there is more to come from Manchester United and urged supporters to keep faith with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

That was after the England forward starred in United's 2-1 Manchester derby victory over rivals Man City, winning an early penalty and scoring it himself.

Anthony Martial scored United's second at the Etihad Stadium and although Nicolas Otamendi pulled a late goal back for Pep Guardiola's side, United saw out victory.

It completed a dream week for United and Rashford. The 22-year-old has scored three goals in two games against City and Tottenham and believes more consistency from his United teammates is just around the corner if they remain patient with Solskjaer.

“It’s been an inconsistent start to the season," he admitted, speaking to the BBC after the game.

"It’s a young team, and we’ve been trying to get the right fundamentals and the only way to get consistency is to go through these hard times. You have to stick with the manager and process. If we do that we’ve got something to be excited about in the future."

Rashford also reflected on the celebrations at the Etihad after the game, as he gave his shirt to a United away fan and the visiting players soaked up the moment after the 2-1 win.

"It's class," he told Sky Sports . "Nothing gets better than that feeling and on a day like this, you can't top that.

"Very positive, happy for the fans, for the team but the challenge is now to keep that consistency."
