Marcus Rashford's comments about Jose Mourinho tenure underline Man Utd commitment

Marcus Rashford previously confessed that he could "never leave Manchester United" despite experiencing difficult periods under former manager Jose Mourinho.

The Red Devils striker has proven himself to be a star - both on and off the pitch.

He experienced a rapid rise and has established himself as one of United's most important players.

And he has told former Red Devil Patrice Evra that he would never quit Old Trafford despite "not having a great time" when Jose Mourinho was in charge.

“When Rashford was playing under Mourinho he told me he wasn’t having a great time," said Evra on Sky Sports.

“But he said to me, ‘I could never leave Manchester United ’.”

Rashford leads the goalscoring charts for United this term having netted 19 times in all competitions.

He signed a new deal at Old Trafford in the summer which reflects his importance to the club.

But it his conduct off the field which has seen his receive high praise after his open letter to the government saw them extend their free meals for children scheme.

And Keane believes the 22-year-old has can achieve great things.

He said: “He’s talking from his own experiences as a kid growing up in Manchester.

“He’s speaking from his own heart and that’s why this is such a strong message. He should be proud.

“I bet he just wants to focus on playing football now, that’s a lot easier because some people think you shouldn’t speak up for people. All credit to him, he deserves it.

“His performances over the last year, playing in a couple of different positions, coming off the back of a bad injury.

“He is maturing very well and if he keeps this kind of progress up - because he’s still learning his trade.

“The kid is doing everything right on the pitch and off it. He’s brilliant to watch, he’s exciting, a goal threat.

“He looks like he loves playing football, he’s a local lad. The world’s at his feet.”
