Marcus Rashford's brilliant message to Manchester United teammate Eric Bailly

Marcus Rashford has sent a brilliant message of support to Manchester United teammate Eric Bailly as he continues his road to recovery.

Bailly should be representing the Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations this summer, as his country got their campaign underway against South Africa on Monday.

However, he suffered an unfortunate medial ligament injury in United's 1-1 draw with Chelsea at the back-end of last season which ruled him out for the final two games and this summer's tournament.

In the aftermath of hearing the bad news the 25-year-old wrote on Instagram : "I would like to thank everyone for the messages of love and support I have received.

"It's tough, but one must accept that some injuries are unavoidable.

"It's true that this season hasn't smiled down upon me very much, but I will return soon and with more strength next season, God willing."

Bailly has been spending his summer rehabilitating from his injury in the hope of being fit to return the United side as soon as possible but took the time to send an encouraging message to his nation ahead of their first AFCON game.

United striker Rashford replied to the post saying: "When ur (sic) back fit I hope to see you back in ur (sic) number 9."

As Bailly, even though he is a centre-back, bizarrely wears the No.9 for his country, a number usually reserved for a striker.

In his absence the number has been taken by former United attacker Wilfried Zaha.
