That goal opened up the game for the hosts and just three minutes later the lead was doubled when the goalscorer turned provider by assisting strike-partner Anthony Martial.

Speaking to the match's UK broadcasters Amazon Prime in the aftermath of the match, Rashford revealed how the goal came to be. "We didn't practise it too much, but it was definitely one from the training ground," the forward shared.

"We'd seen from some of their clips they're very man-to-man and if you can shift them all to the back half of the goal and create a little space in the front, then we could get a good chance on goal, so I'm happy that it came off. It's something we did work on."
