Marcus Rashford reveals what Erik ten Hag says to him before Manchester United games

Marcus Rashford has revealed that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag always backs him to deliver for the team as the England ace continues to enjoy a spectacular goalscoring run.

Rashford has been in scintillating form in recent months, having bagged 16 goals in his last 18 games. He is currently United's highest scorer this term with 24 goals in all competitions.

The 25-year-old endured a difficult campaign last term - scoring just five goals across the entire season - but he has been rejuvenated under Ten Hag since the Dutchman's arrival at the club in the summer.

Rashford has received widespread praise for his performances this term, and his manager has lauded him on several occasions throughout the season. The academy graduate has since spoken glowingly about the impact Ten Hag has had at Old Trafford, as well as explaining what they sometimes discuss before matches.

"When it comes to gameday, if he has two minutes to say something to you, it's going to be about the goals and being a constant threat," Rashford told Sky Sports. "He always just says to me, 'You've got 95 minutes, all you need is one chance and you have to take that one chance'.

"It's nice to have a manager that is so focused on every detail, he wants to push himself to be the very best, which ultimately pushes the players and the team to be the best we can be. When we're not at our best, he tell us.

"Just before joining pre-season, I was just full of ambition and hope and I was just eager to get back in and start the season. When I'm like that and I'm happy, I can do good things on the pitch. I'm pleased that he's created an environment that's managed to sustain that.

"It's been good so far and I hope that it continues, I'm sure it will if we're winning games."

Rashford has travelled with the United squad to London for the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle, but it remains to be seen if he will start the game. The attacker sustained an apparent ankle injury in the second half of the Reds' Europa League play-off win over Barcelona on Thursday night and was substituted in the 88th minute.
