Marcus Rashford reveals the secret behind Manchester United goal vs Liverpool FC

Marcus Rashford says his 'eye contact' with Daniel James was the key to netting a brilliant goal for Manchester United against Liverpool.

United held the Premier League leaders to a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon after Rashford's opening goal was cancelled out by a late strike from Adam Lallana.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side defied many people's expectations as they battled well to frustrate and ensure Liverpool dropped point in the league for the first time this season, however their opening goal came with a fair amount of controversy.

Victor Lindelof was involved in a strong challenge with Divock Origi in the build-up to the goal, but after a lengthy VAR review the referee adjudged there to have been no foul committed.

Following the initial challenge Wales international James subsequently stormed up the wing and laid Rashford off with an inch perfect cross to give his side a well deserved lead.

Speaking after the game Rashford praised his teammate for the assist and revealed the secret behind the well worked opening effort.

"We had a bit of eye contact before, and these are the fine margins that we are working with," Rashford told MUTV. "Probably without looking at each other and getting that connection you don't get the goal.

"You just miss the goal which has happened a lot in the past. So yeah, it was a good goal, but we definitely want more of them."
