Marcus Rashford reveals the difference between Manchester United now and under Jose Mourinho

Marcus Rashford believes Manchester United may have come unstuck in a game like last night's against FC Astana two years ago.

The United striker was one of several players to endure a frustrating night in the Europa League opener at Old Trafford, only for teenage striker Mason Greenwood to spare their blushes with an excellent second half goal.

And Rashford, while reiterating how important it was for United to go all the way in the Europa League - the competition that gives a spot in next season's Champions League to its winners - made an admission about how far the side had come under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He says the team are now more united and that helped them over the line to secure the 1-0 win.

Rashford said: "They were a tough team to break down but I think it shows, if I look back to two years ago I don't think the team had the togetherness to come through a game like that.

"Because everyone expects it to be an easy game, but the opposition have come to win, so it's always a tough game."

And despite the fact Solskjaer made nine changes from the side that beat Leicester City in the Premier League - with only Rashford and Nemanja Matic keeping their places - the United forward did not dismiss the importance of the European competition.

"For Manchester United every competition is big," he added.

"We want to win the trophy and we won't be happy with anything less than that."

Rashford and United must now quickly turn their attentions to the Premier League clash with West Ham United on Sunday, where they have the chance to record a third successive win and clean sheet following a rocky start to the season.
