Marcus Rashford praises Co Antrim boy after fundraising success

Marcus Rashford has hailed the "amazing work" of a Co Antrim boy who has been raising money for the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

Ben Dickinson, 10, ran the equivalent of a marathon by jogging a mile per day over 26 days in March.

Ben completed his challenge on Friday at Inver Park alongside players and staff from Larne Football Club who he supports.

He was inspired by Manchester United star Rashford's well documented charitable work during coronavirus, with the England striker surprising the Ben on a Zoom call last week to say 'well done'.

And after completing his challenge, Rashford continued his praise.

Rashford said on Twitter: "That's my guy, well done buddy. Amazing work."

Ben has raised over £5,000 for the NI Children's Hospice, after initially setting a target of £250.

"Unbelievable. I never thought I'd hit £250 at the start," Ben told the BBC.

"So to get to this milestone is unbelievable."
