Marcus Rashford: Patrice Evra insists 'really poor' Man United forward deserves as much criticism as Paul Pogba

Patrice Evra has described Marcus Rashford’s performance against West Ham as “really poor”.

Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham, meaning Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side still need one point to guarantee a top four finish and a return to the Champions League in their final game against Leicester.

Paul Pogba was criticised heavily for gifting the Hammers a penalty by handling the ball after Declan Rice’s shot, with Gary Neville describing the incident as “embarrassing” during commentary on Sky Sports.

But Evra insists the Frenchman is not the only one who deserved criticism after his former club slipped up at Old Trafford.

“I knew it would be a tough game for United but I’m disappointed with some of the performances,” admitted the former United left-back.

“They’ve been some harsh words about Pogba and the penalty incident but I’ve not seen any harsh words yet about Rashford.

“He had a really poor game today. But West Ham deserve a lot of credit.”

While Neville questioned Rashford’s fitness during live commentary.

“Marcus Rashford has had a terrible 15 minutes. In terms of fitness too,” said Neville.

“Manchester United had been resting players ahead of the FA Cup semi-final but it doesn’t seem to have benefited them tonight. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has gone back to his favoured 11.

“They’re just not having the best of nights. Physically they just don’t look anywhere near it.

“Manchester United really have dropped off and with that the quality has dropped off.”
