Marcus Rashford opens up on crucial thing he noticed about Wolves defender before scoring

Marcus Rashford claims he knew he had the edge on Rayan Ait-Nouri as he noticed the Wolves defender was suffering with cramp.

Rashford collected Bruno Fernandes' lofted pass and scored a winner at the death as Manchester United beat Wolves 1-0 at Old Trafford.

The Englishman got the better of Ait-Nouri in the box, shifting away from the left wing-back to earn enough time to get his shot away.

Rashford's effort took a deflection off Romain Saiss and nestled in the back of the net past a helpless Rui Patricio, earning United a vital three points to close the gap on league-leaders Liverpool.

Explaining how his goal came about, Rashford told Prime Video after the full-time whistle: "The full back, I think he got cramp a few minutes before so I just had in my head, I'm going to go at him and make him chop and turn.

"See if I can make something happen. Thankfully we got a deflection and it went in."

The victory sends United two points behind Liverpool, but Rashford insists the Red Devils are not getting ahead of themselves.

He added: "For us, we can't look too far ahead. We are a team that is still doing a lot of work on ourselves. To be looking at the table so early is stupid. We have to take it one game at a time."

Rashford's goal was his 51st in the Premier League and he was delighted to fire United to victory after a hard-fought fixture.

"It's the deciding goal. Probably not the most beautiful goal but we'll take that and the three points and move on," said Rashford. "Today was a tough game, we expected a tough game. At the end of the day we managed to get over the line."
