Marcus Rashford names his free-kick inspiration at Manchester United

Marcus Rashford has revealed he took inspiration from Nani's free-kick technique while watching Manchester United as a youngster.

The United forward has become renowned for his ability to score long-range free-kicks, netting a memorable strike at Chelsea in the Carabao Cup last season and others throughout his career. Although Bruno Fernandes often takes free-kicks closer to goal, Rashford often fancies his chances from distance.

And during a question and answer session with followers on Twitter, Rashford was asked who his favourite ever free-kick taker was, besides United legend David Beckham.

The 23-year-old responded by name-checking former Reds' winger Nani.

He said: "I used to love to watch Luis Nani [sic] he was one of the only ones that could knuckle ball."

Nani himself replied by saying: "Thanks mate. We've got to do a shoot around together sometime."

Rashford responded again and said: "Bro, you know where I am," with Nani finishing the exchange: "You can count on it."

The BT Sport Football account, which began the debate, then posted some vidoes of iconic free-kicks and Rashford named his favourite Nani effort as one he'd scored for Fenerbahce versus Konyaspor.
