Marcus Rashford namechecks Jadon Sancho in reply to Manchester United question

Manchester United fans had a predictable response when Marcus Rashford name dropped Jadon Sancho in his Twitter Q&A on Friday night.

England international Sancho continues to be linked with a big-money move to United, having been courted by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side last year.

United's pursuit of Sancho was the story of last summer's transfer window but the English winger ended up staying at Borussia Dortmund, who held firm over their €120million asking price.

It is believed the former Manchester City winger remains a potential target at Old Trafford, though it remains to be seen if a deal can be done in the current financial climate.

Sancho has been one of the names on the lips of many United fans - and striker Rashford, too.

Rashford held a question and answer session with supporters on Twitter on Friday evening.

The United forward answered a range of questions and when asked who his favourite Bundesliga player was, he simply replied by tagging Sancho's official Twitter account "@Sanchooo10".

That response certainly got the Old Trafford faithful talking, with calls to "get him to United" and "bring him home".

Sancho left City in 2017 to make the move to Germany.

To date, the 20-year-old has scored 43 goals and provided 58 assists in 127 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit.

In midweek, he helped Dortmund to a 3-2 victory away to Sevilla in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie, setting up a goal for another player attracting plenty of transfer attention, Erling Haaland.

Last April, Rashford said on Instagram Live that "it would be good" if Sancho joined United.

"Sancho is a great player," he added. "He's like the new generation player."

Sancho later returned the favour by revealing England team-mate Rashford as the most skilful player he has played with.

"Played with – Marcus Rashford," Sancho told Pro Direct Soccer's Pavement to Pitch show in September, before adding: "When I was at City, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva. It would probably be David Silva. He just dictates play."
