Marcus Rashford misses Man Utd's crunch clash at Liverpool due to injury

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford will miss the Red Devils' date at Anfield after aggravating a back complaint.

The England star has been in fantastic form this season, scoring four goals in his last four league games to extend his tally to 19 for the campaign.

But the 22-year-old could be set for a longer spell on the sidelines than first thought after aggravating an an injury sustained in the midweek FA Cup victory over Wolves .

Rashford came off the bench in the third-round replay but lasted only 14 minutes after picking up the knock and being substituted off.

Rashford's injury comes at a bad time for United, who face Manchester City in the second-leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final later this month already faced with a 3-1 deficit. They also take on Club Brugge in the Europa League knock-out stages in February.

The Englishman has started every Premier League game this season but Solskjaer revealed in the week that he had been carrying a back injury "for a little while".

England manager Gareth Southgate will also be keen to learn the extent of the injury as he looks ahead to this summer's Euros.

The potential Three Lions forward line has already been hit by a serious injury to captain Harry Kane, who is out for three months with a ruptured hamstring.

March friendlies against Denmark and Italy will come too soon for Kane, but Southgate will hope that Rashford is fully fit and back firing for United before then.
