Marcus Rashford makes plea to Manchester United fans ahead of vital week

Marcus Rashford has urged Manchester United fans to rally behind their side after the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea.

The United striker has admitted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side were not at their best in the 3-1 reverse to Frank Lampard's men at Wembley, as strikes from Olivier Giroud and Mason Mount and a Harry Maguire own goal proved decisive.

United must now respond as they face West Ham in the Premier League on Wednesday night, before travelling to Leicester on Sunday. Both games are vitally important to United's hopes of finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League.

Rashford took to social media to hold his hands up, but reiterated the message about the coming week.

"There’s nowhere to hide this morning, we just weren’t good enough yesterday," said the forward. "I’m gutted. But we have to brush that off and prepare for two huge games this week.

"Your support is everything and we never take that for granted. We’re going to need every single one of you behind us."

His was a similar message to the one posted by teammate Bruno Fernandes after the Chelsea game.

Fernandes said: "We were not the best before and we are not the worst now.

"We are really sad about the result and losing the chance to win the FA Cup, something we had hoped for! Now it is time to gather forces and fight for our goal in the Premier League."
