Marcus Rashford makes Manchester United injury admission

Marcus Rashford has explained that he and Manchester United are taking his reoccurring injury problem on a 'game by game' basis.

Despite enjoying one of his most fruitful seasons for United, with 20 goals and 12 assists, Rashford has been struggling over the last few weeks with a foot injury.

It has seen the striker substituted well before full-time in his last three appearances and he was also rested completely for Thursday's 2-0 victory over Granada in the Europa League.

Yet Rashford is back in the starting XI for Sunday's Premier League encounter with Burnley, a win in which could see United close the gap on leaders Manchester City to eight points.

Rashford has detailed how the club is managing his fitness and revealed that he is doing everything he can to get on the pitch.

"I'm alright I just take it game by game," he told Sky Sports when asked about the injury.

"It's a bit inconsistent in the way it recovers but at the end of the day, we just have to deal with it in the best way that we can, in the way that is the most comfortable.

"I'm happiest when I'm playing the games and helping the team. I just do what I can to get out on the pitch.

"It's just something that I've not really had before so it's new for me but I'm fine, I can go into the games with a clear head and just concentrate on getting the three points."

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer agrees that it has had to be managed game-by-game, but doesn't believe it will be a problem against the Clarets.

"It has been [game by game] it has been one of those that I've asked him 'how are you?' and he says it's okay," Solskjaer said.

"Yesterday when I spoke to him he said 'good.' So that's the first time in a long long while, he's never ever mentioned it so it should be no problem."
