Marcus Rashford joins Northern Ireland heroes on Manchester United appearance list

Marcus Rashford joined an elite list when he lined out for Manchester United on Tuesday night.

The England striker reached 250 appearances with United in the FA Cup tie against West Ham United.

At 23 years 101 days old, he is the fourth youngest United player to reach the milestone.

The top five is dominated by Northern Ireland footballers.

The youngest to have hit the 250 mark is Norman Whiteside.

Stormin' Norman was aged 22 years and 192 days when he made his 250th appearance for the Red Devils.

Second on the list is the legendary George Best, the mercurial genius who scored 179 goals in 470 appearances for the club.

Best reached the 250-game milestone at the age of 22 years and 199 days, just seven shy of Whiteside's record.

Welsh wizard Ryan Giggs comes in third at 22 years 301 days, followed by Rashford.

And in fifth spot is another former Northern Ireland icon, Sammy McIlroy.

McIlroy was 23 years 158 days old when he reached 250 games.

Not a bad list to be on...
