Marcus Rashford injury update ahead of Man Utd vs Tottenham clash

Marcus Rashford has made a full recovery from his back injury and is fit to play in Man Utd's first match back after the coronavirus crisis.

United meet Tottenham in their first fixture of Project Restart, travelling to north London for a meeting with ex-manager Jose Mourinho's side.

Rashford has been laid off with a double stress fracture of his back since January, and there were initial fears he would play no further part in the season.

However the 22-year-old has been able to use the enforced break to continue his rehabilitation and was one of the first United stars to report back to the club's Carrington training base.

The Sun report Rashford is confident he is fit for United's first clash as they look to extend their 11-match unbeaten run.

United have already been boosted by the return of midfielder Paul Pogba to training, who is already forging a good relationship with new signing Bruno Fernandes.

The first-team squad - including Rashford - have resumed contact training in preparation for the season's return, with United and Spurs due to face off over the weekend of June 20/21.

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also been boosted by the extension of Odion Ighalo's loan deal, with the striker set to remain at the club until at least January.

Ighalo said: “Everybody is looking good. Running, working hard and playing football.

“Little two-a-sides and doing some ball work. Everyone is getting better and better.

"Everyone is back, even Paul (Pogba) is back training normally and Rashy is back training as normal.

"Everyone is training normally and training full and all that, so the squad is full and everyone is ready, I think.

"I can't wait for the league to start again."

United trail fourth-place Chelsea by three points in the table and have their sights set on qualifying for Champions League football next season, while they battle for silverware in the FA Cup and Europa League in the coming weeks.
