Marcus Rashford gives Manchester United injury boost

Manchester United have been handed a major injury boost ahead of their game against Wolves tonight, with Marcus Rashford in training.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has staggered his side's training programme this week to deal with fixture pile-up over the festive period. Some small groups have trained outside and Rashford, Juan Mata and Facundo Pellistri were among the group going through drills at a snowy Aon Training Complex in Carrington on Tuesday morning.

It remains to be seen whether Rashford is fit enough to start the Wolves game with a shoulder issue, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also battling to regain fitness. United are likely to be without Victor Lindelof (back), with Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe competing for starts.

Solskjaer hinted that Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire — arguably United's three most important players right now — could not be rested as he chases a vital three points against Wolves.

He said: “Of course they have to be rested at certain points but then again we need points and we need to play strong teams and build on things.

"Even playing through when you’re a bit tired does develop you and improve you. If you see the best teams then they don’t rotate that much, the best players don’t rotate that much."
