Marcus Rashford forced off with injury in Man Utd clash with Wolves

Manchester United are sweating on the fitness of Marcus Rashford ahead of their clash with Liverpool .

England international Rashford was forced off in the second half of his side's FA Cup third round replay against Wolves - having only been on the pitch for 16 minutes.

Rashford, who has struggled with a back problem, was caught by Matt Doherty having only been introduced as a substitute at Old Trafford in place of Daniel James.

Rashford went down in pain minutes after the challenge and appeared in serious discomfort as he received treatment.

He trudged off clutching his back but returned to the pitch briefly before being replaced by Jesse Lingard.

Rashford went straight down the touchline and the tunnel, with United hoping he will be fit for the weekend trip to Anfield.

Juan Mata had earlier given United the lead in the FA Cup replay after a goalless draw in the first leg.

United head to Anfield on Sunday as they bid to close the gap on the sides above them in the race for the Champions League.

Rashford has been in fine form and scored twice against Norwich at Old Trafford on Saturday.

That came on the back of his strike in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Manchester City last week.

United are already without midfielders Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay through injury, with Rashford now adding to Solskjaer's concerns.

Pogba has been forced to undergo surgery on an ankle problem while McTominay is also sidelined with a knee injury.
