Marcus Rashford explains why Paul Pogba took Manchester United penalty vs Wolves

Marcus Rashford says he was happy for Paul Pogba to take Manchester United's penalty against Wolves because it was his turn to do so.

Pogba wasted the opportunity to win the game for United on Monday night as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side were held to a draw by Wolves at Molineux.

United had taken the lead through Anthony Martial in the first-half, before Ruben Neves drew the home side level with a wonder goal after the break.

Solskjaer's side then had the chance to win the game midway through the second-half when French midfielder Pogba was fouled in the box.

However, United saw their hopes of three points dashed when Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Patricio dived to his right to save the spotkick.

Rashford had netted an emphatic penalty on the opening weekend of the Premier League season to maintain his one hundred percent record as a professional football, but handed duty over to Pogba on Monday.

In hindsight it looked like a strange decision to let Pogba take the penalty ahead of Rashford, but speaking at full-time the England international explained why it happened.

“Paul wanted to take it, it’s that simple," Rashford told Sky Sports. "Everyone can miss a penalty. He has scored so many for us, we can forget about that now and we go again.

“It is simple, if you wanna take it, you take it. I took one last week, so it is no problem for me.

“I think whenever there is a penalty the confidence is always the same, and so it should be. We score the majority of the time, so there is no reason why you shouldn’t be confident to score it.”
