Marcus Rashford delivers withering assessment of Man Utd teammates after Man City defeat

Marcus Rashford delivered a withering assessment of his Manchester United teammates after their defeat in the Manchester derby - saying the Red Devils are failing to do "the bare minimum".

Goals from Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane gave Manchester City a 2-0 victory and United were second best throughout at Old Trafford.

It marked a seventh defeat in nine matches for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side and was the third successive game they have failed to find the back of the net.

And Rashford admitted the team's work rate was not up to scratch.

"Today we didn’t play like Manchester United ," he told Sky Sports. "It’s not right. The bare minimum is to work hard and give all for the badge, the supporters, the club and yourself.

Paul Pogba doesn't want to be at Man Utd, says Gary Neville

"It has been a tough road to get to where we are, to get there and not be putting up the same performances as we were in January is disappointing.

"We know what’s been going wrong, it’s mentality and willingness to run for your team. Forget the league and top four, you don’t lose this game.

"It’s that simple as a Manchester United fan. We never call each other out but we have to be real with each other. It’s a matter of trying to improve each other.

"It’s more getting back used to doing it on the pitch. They [the fans] know we can do it. We have to get to the bottom of it and start playing like Manchester United for ourselves."

United now face an uphill battle to reach the top four, sitting three points adrift of the Champions League spots with three matches left to play.
