Marcus Rashford can propel Manchester United to a Premier League or Champions League title according to former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher.
The forward scored his 10th goal in all competitions this season as United beat Leicester, extending Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s undefeated run as interim boss to 10 games in all competitions.
Rashford has now scored 42 goals since making his debut in February 2016, more than any other United player.
“Rashford can make himself Manchester United’s centre-forward – they don’t need to go and buy anyone else, he’s your centre-forward that can take you to a title or a Champions League," Carragher said on Sky Sports.
“Between now and the end of the season, we’ve talked about an audition for Solskjaer.
“The form he’s in at the moment if he continues that then they don’t need to go and buy anyone else in or bring [Romelu] Lukaku back, he can be that man.”
Thanks to the 21-year-old’s winning goal, and Arsenal’s defeat at Manchester City, United moved up to fifth in the table, only two points behind Chelsea in the battle for the final spot in next year’s Champions League.
The Red Devils also meet PSG in the last-16 of the Champions League over two legs later this month.
Since exploding onto the scene with two goals in his first-team debut against FC Midtjylland three years ago, making him United’s youngest ever scorer in Europe, Rashford has emerged as one of the brightest young talents in European football.
Rashford has found form under Solskjaer, scoring six times in the Norweigan’s short reign, having only scored three goals in 17 games before his appointment.
Solskjaer revealed after the game that Rashford had actually ignored his instructions against the Foxes, but he was not too bothered in the end.
“I told him [to put the shot he scored from] through Schmeichel's legs, because he opens up.
"But it was a great finish so I can't complain, can I?”
