Marcus Rashford says his sole focus is improving his performances as the Manchester United striker broke silence amid reports of unrest among the players at Old Trafford.
The United squad have come under increasing scrutiny in recent weeks after a number of lacklustre performances, continuing on from their poor form under previous manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Despite Ralf Rangnick’s arrival as interim boss, displays have not picked up, leading to the German suffering his first defeat in charge against Wolves to start 2022.
Manchester Evening News understands players are becoming 'sick to death' of the dwindling standards at the club and resentment is festering among some of their under-used players and a 'confrontation' is brewing between a number of under-used players and Rangnick if moves are not sanctioned during January.
Rashford has come in for criticism for his performances after a number of underwhelming displays following a long injury lay-off.
The 24-year-old, though, has delivered a powerful response on social media.
“I read something earlier that I’d been quiet on here but what can I say that will make this better other than showing you all on the pitch?,” Rashford wrote.
“We’ve all been disappointed with recent performances and we’ve been as disappointed with the news coverage questioning our commitment to not only the manager and the coaching staff but the club.
“I have endless respect for both and I’m looking forward to bettering my game under the staff at Manchester United.
“I’m not sulking, I’m not unhappy, am I disappointed in some of my recent performances? Of course I am. I’m my own biggest critic.
“It’s been a tough start but I’m determined to prove my worth. My dedication and my desire to be here should never be in question. I love this club.”
Rashford becomes the latest player to break his silence on the current situation at United, with Fred also hitting out at recent reports on Friday.
The midfielder posted: "Over the past few days I have read several fake news involving my name and other MUFC athletes. I'm not in the habit of answering controversial stuff publicly, but this time I will have to.
"I just want to say that I am very happy here and I have never expressed any dissatisfaction and the possibility of leaving the club. Don't get misled by fake news. We will continue to work with great dedication to pursue our goals."
