Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood finishing claim made by Manchester United great

Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood have been compared by Paul Scholes and the Manchester United great has offered his verdict on who will become the better finisher.

Greenwood opened the scoring for the Red Devils at home to Partizan Belgrade on Thursday evening when he came inside on his left foot and fired home.

Anthony Martial added the second before Rashford eventually found the back of the net with a thunderbolt of a left-footed strike himself.

But the goal came amid an array of missed chances for Rashford in the first half as he highlighted his ability to create opportunities but also miss the target too.

Scholes was on punditry duties for BT Sport for the contest and chose to compare their abilities in front of goal.

Whilst Rashford is expected to be United's top goalscorer this season after taking his tally in all competitions to eight, Scholes believes that 18-year-old Greenwood will become the better finisher in the long term.

"Marcus Rashford does lack that little bit of composure in front of goal," Scholes told BT Sport.

"Mason Greenwood will become a better finisher than Marcus because of his pure composure in front of goal. Marcus still lashes at things and doesn't have that cool head at times."

"He'll be disappointed he didn't score more goals but he was in the right places and created chances for his team-mates."

United ended up cruising to a 3-0 victory over Partizan Belgrade to progress through to the knockout stages of the Europa League. A home fixture against Brighton in the Premier League is next up for the Red Devils on Sunday.
