Marcus Peters gets No. 24 jersey from Brandon Carr

Newly acquired Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters finally has a jersey number. He’ll wear the No. 24 jersey, which was previously worn by fellow cornerback Brandon Carr. Carr, in turn, will change over to No. 39.

The Ravens traded for Peters this week, sending a 2020 fifth-round pick and linebacker Kenny Young to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange. Peters has worn the No. 22 jersey throughout his career, both with the Kansas City Chiefs and Rams. He also wore the No. 21 jersey while in college, playing for Washington. However, the No. 22 jersey is currently being used by cornerback Jimmy Smith, and the No. 21 jersey is being worn by running back Mark Ingram.

It appeared as though Peters had originally been given the No. 30 jersey upon arriving to Baltimore, at least according to some initial photos the Ravens put up on Twitter.

While some players seemingly care quite a bit about which number they wear on the field, Carr doesn’t seem to be one of them.

Peters isn’t the only player this season to trade jersey numbers with another player. Safety Earl Thomas got cornerback Marlon Humphrey to give up his No. 29 jersey in exchange for a donation to his mother’s track team.
