Marcus Morris: ‘We owed Boston to be better’

The one player who did not waver under the pressure in the Boston Celtics 116-91 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals on Wednesday was Marcus Morris. The veteran scored 14 points on 4 of 8 shooting and had 11 rebounds.

Morris was one of the team’s vocal players throughout the season, working to get everyone on the same page. His efforts, combined with those from others, were not enough in the end.

The loss left a poor taste in his mouth. Morris still wants more — and felt this team was capable of giving Celtics fans what they wanted this season.

I felt as though we owed Boston to be better. You know, they stayed with us through this tough year. I just felt like we owed them to be better. Me personally, I prepared like no other last year to have a good season, to help my time. For us to not be able to make that step, I think that’s what hurts the most.

Morris will be one of many NBA players testing free agency this summer.
