AUBURN HILLS, Mich. _ Marcus Morris' tip-in at the buzzer saved the Detroit Pistons Saturday and gave his team a 113-112 victory over the Washington Wizards.
The tip capped off a 25-point night for Morris and helped the Pistons avoid the embarrassment of blowing a 16-point lead to start the fourth quarter.
Instead, the Pistons (21-24) appear to be building momentum with their third straight victory.
The heroics were needed when Bradley Beal made two free throws to give the Wizards a 112-111 lead with 1:13 remaining.
Tobias Harris missed a 3-pointer on the next possession, but the Pistons forced a John Wall miss with 27 seconds left.
The Pistons rushed up the floor and Reggie Jackson, the subject of trade rumors, missed a jump shot.
Andre Drummond grabbed the offensive rebound and passed it to Jackson, who found Harris in the corner for a 3-pointer.
Harris' shot was blocked, but he was able to retrieve the loose ball and get off another shot.
The shot was errant, but Morris was able to get the tip right before the buzzer over the outstretched arm of his twin brother, Markieff Morris.
The score set off a wild celebration between Marcus Morris and his teammates and after the officials confirmed the score, the Palace crowd erupted.
Jackson finished with 19 points and eight rebounds and Harris had 18 points.
Jon Leuer scored 10 points after missing five games with a sore right knee.
The Wizards (23-20) came into the game winning seven of eight games.
Markieff Morris and Wall led the Wizards with 19 points each.
When the Pistons actually got a shot off, the first half offense hummed.
They shot 53.5 percent from the field and 38 percent from 3-point range in taking a 61-55 lead at halftime.
They were also a perfect 9-for-9 at the free-throw line.
But the problem was 14 turnovers, which led to 14 points for the Wizards.
The referees were whistle happy as three Pistons had three fouls in the first half. The Wizards took advantage with 16 free throws made out of 22 attempts.
Jackson scored 11 points and added six assists in the first half. Wall had 15 points and five assists.
The Wizards came into the game winning six of the last eight meetings against the Pistons.
