Marcus Morris: Celtics’ resurgence driven by Kyrie Irving’s energy

It’s pretty apparent the Boston Celtics have made a change. Not so much in game planning necessarily, though they are constantly fine-tuning that aspect. It’s their chemistry.

The Celtics have cited their flight out to Golden State as the vehicle that allowed for the mending of fences. In the course of discussing the pivotal flight, Kyrie Irving expressed during ESPN’s Saturday postgame coverage that he helped Brad Stevens “coach” during the flight, seemingly taking credit for getting the ball rolling on what’s proven to be a game-changing, and possibly season-altering, flight.

Well, based on Marcus Morris’ comments to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe following the 120-107 over the Lakers, it doesn’t seem Irving was far off in his description.

Ask that man right there [Kyrie Irving]. His energy has just taken us to another level. He’s been great for us. Everybody been talking about how he want out and all this other [expletive], but he’s been great for us, a great leader.

Maybe Irving has what it takes to be a leader after all.
