Marcus Mackenzie: Search for Edinburgh man, 24, who went missing on Wednesday

Police have launched an urgent appeal to trace a man missing from Edinburgh amid concerns over his welfare.

Marcus Mackenzie has not been seen by friends or family since leaving Saughton Mains Park on Wednesday evening and officers have now stepped up efforts to locate him.

The 24-year-old was last seen in the area at around 8:25pm, though may have travelled elsewhere in the Capital.

He is believed to have connections in the Carrick Knowe area of the city and police are following that line of inquiry.

Marcus is described as white, around 5ft 10ins in height and of medium build.

He is also said to have short brown hair.

Police have urged locals to be on the lookout and asked anyone with information on Marcus’ whereabouts to come forward.

Inspector Graeme Dignan at Wester Hailes Police Station said: “We believe that Marcus may have travelled to the Carrick Knowe area of Edinburgh, and we are carrying out enquiries and searches to trace him.

Inspector Dignan added: “We are concerned for his well being and want to trace him to ensure that he is safe and well.”

Anyone with any information on his whereabouts should contact 101 quoting reference number 4140 of Wednesday, August 18.
