The Arizona Cardinals have durability concerns on the offensive line, considering who they have slotted to start. D.J. Humphries, Justin Pugh and Marcus Gilbert have a history of getting hurt and A.Q. Shipley is coming off a torn ACL. Gilbert suffered an injury on Monday in practice, which raised concerns but it isn’t anything to worry about.
Head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters he suffered a minor groin injury on Monday at practice but is fine and should be good to go in the team’s preseason opener Thursday night.
Gilbert did not practice on Tuesday afternoon.
While Kingsbury says Gilbert should be ready to go on Thursday, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the team rest Gilbert. The starting offensive line might play a two or three series and the risk of further injury to a player who has played in only 12 games the last two season might not be worth the risk.
If he doesn’t play, it would mean more time for Korey Cunningham.
