Marcos Rojo spotted in Manchester United away end for Man City game

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo is on the verge of a loan transfer to Estudiantes in his homeland of Argentina.

But that didn't stop him joining United fans in the Etihad Stadium away section to watch the second leg of the Manchester derby Carabao Cup semi final on Wednesday.

Rojo has form for joining United's away fans on their travels — after once being spotted in the away end at Anfield for a Liverpool game when he was ruled out injured.

And the Argentine might not be in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans right now — or even still at the club in a few days' time — but plenty of fans shared pictures of him enjoying a night out at Eastlands. He was donning a distinctive orange coat and sat in the first row of the second tier of the area in which United fans were housed.

Rojo also posted on his own Instagram page his view from behind the goal, as he watched Nemanja Matic's powerful drive put United 1-0 in front against the run of play against their Manchester rivals. United trailed 3-1 after the first leg of the two-legged League Cup tie with a place at Wembley at stake.

MEN Sport understand his proposed loan move to Estudiantes is likely to go through before the January transfer deadline on Friday.

He was close to leaving United for Everton in the summer window and has only played a bit-part role in the season so far. Rojo, 29, was signed by Louis van Gaal for United in 2014 but has only made 64 league starts in five and a half years at Old Trafford.
