Marcos Rojo posts brilliant response to failed rabona attempt for Manchester United vs Astana

Marcos Rojo has hit back after his failed rabona attempt against Astana went viral after Thursday night's Europa League win.

Rojo was making his first Manchester United start since April at left back, and impressed overall on a tricky night for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men.

The Argentine has put himself in contention to start against West Ham at the weekend with Luke Shaw ruled out due to injury, but one aspect of his performance on Thursday didn't quite go to plan.

Rojo had cut in from the left as United built an attack and rather than curl the ball into the box with his weaker right foot, he attempted a rabona cross with his left. Safe to say, the attempt didn't work and it hit the first defender and Rojo stumbled away.

Ultimately, United got the win thanks to Mason Greenwood's first senior goal for the club, but fans wouldn't let Rojo forget his rabona before that point.

So the defender took to Instagram on Friday to show fans what he had planned as he lined up the attempt the previous day.

Clearly seeing the funny side of the incident, Rojo posted two videos from training of perfectly executed rabona finishes past Lee Grant, and wrote: "This was the idea" with laughing emojis.
