Marcos Rojo pleads with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to help him avoid "tremendous sense of pain"

Manchester United's on loan defender Marcos Rojo says he doesn't want to return to Old Trafford despite his temporary switch to Estudiantes turning into a nightmare.

The 30-year-old Argentinean returned home to South America in January, but injury issues in his first few weeks meant that he could only manage one appearance for his boyhood club before the coronavirus pandemic ensured that football was halted.

Rojo had featured nine times in all competitions for United this season prior to his move back to the club where he came through the youth ranks, but the defender says he doesn't want to head back to England at the end of the season when his loan deal expires.

FIFA are set to formally ratify a move that will ensure that all contracts, including loan deals, are extended in order to take in the rest of the season whenever that can be played, but regardless of that Rojo is still eyeing a longer stay back home.

"If it depends on me, I will speak to Manchester United ’s management about the possibility of staying here for another six months," he told Estudiantes Y Su Gente, via Metro Sport.

"I will feel a tremendous sense of pain if I have to leave after playing in so few games.

"I am completely recovered now, and fit to play once more."

Rojo, who first left Estudiantes for Spartak Moscow in 2011 before moving on to Sporting Lisbon and then United, suffered from a series of injury issues in his latter seasons in the Premier League.

He has played 122 games for United since his move from Sporting in 2014, but failed to reach double figures in terms of Premier League appearances in each of his last three seasons.
