Marcos Llorente breaks silence on future amid transfer links to Manchester United

Marcos Llorente has addressed the speculation surrounding his future amid links to Manchester United this summer.

Llorente is currently playing at the European Championship after winning the La Liga title with Atletico Madrid this season.

The Spanish midfielder played a key role in that success, having made an appearance in every league game with the exception of one and his performances have won him admirers from some of Europe's most elite clubs - United are known to have monitored him previously.

Previous reports have even suggested United were preparing to launch a £68m bid to bring Llorente to Old Trafford, but the 26-year-old has now broken his silence on the matter, revealing that he's happy at Atletico.

Do you think United should attempt to sign Llorente? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Llorente did reiterate 'anything can happen' in football, though.

"I have many years left [on my contract]. My idea is to stay, I'm fine, I'm happy at Atletico Madrid," Llorente told AS.

"We have had a great season winning La Liga. Anything can happen in football, but I don't think about that kind of thing. I am happy and now I am with the national team.

"There were conversations a long time ago, it is true, but nothing happened and the negotiation was not completed. I have no problem."
