Marco Verratti tells PSG board to sell Neymar in this summer’s transfer window

Marco Verratti has urged the PSG board to sell Neymar this summer.

The Italian midfielder gave his verdict on the transfer saga surrounding his PSG teammate when speaking to RMC Sport .

And Verratti stated the club should not keep a player who sees his future elsewhere, but conceded he would rather see the Brazilian stay at the Parc des Princes.

He said: "When a player really wants to leave, the club must let him go, according to the conditions set by the club, of course.

"But you must not keep a player who wants to leave.

"Of course, I would be disappointed to see him go.

"I never heard him say that he wanted to leave, after I don't know what he told the club. But personally, of course, I prefer to see him stay."

PSG previously confirmed that they had not received any official bid for Neymar, who cost them £198 million in 2017.

Manager Thomas Tuchel also revealed he is keen to keep Neymar on the club's books, despite the player making it clear he wants to leave.

Tuchel said: "It's something between the player and the club. I know before the Copa America that you [Neymar] want to go.

"All the coaches want Neymar to remain on their team and me too.

"He is our player. I'm calm, I do not make plans because in the market everything can happen, but Neymar is my player."

Neymar has joined PSG on their pre-season tour of China (PSG)

Any potential move from Barcelona for Neymar looks increasingly unlikely this summer, after the club announced it's profits were down considerably on last year.

The club's figures have been hit largely due to the signings of Antoine Griezmann and Frenkie de Jong, who cost £108 million and £65 million respectively.

Despite the tensions between the player and club, Neymar has continued to train with PSG, and joined up with the squad on their pre-season tour of China last week.
