Marco van Basten has slammed Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel for giving Timo Werner more opportunities to impress than Hakim Ziyech.
The Dutch legend has questioned why Ziyech has not been afforded many starts under Tuchel, having been dropped to the bench for Chelsea's 1-0 win over West Ham at the weekend.
Speaking on Ziggo Sport, Van Basten said: "Ziyech again on the couch. When he gets in, that's like a striker. He can do that too, because he is just a good player. I am sad to see rotation... He's just not in the right place.
"That Werner plays really badly, but doesn't he come in much more often?

"The system this trainer plays is just not good for Ziyech. Then as Ziyech you have to say: 'You know what? I have to plead.'
"It is now about Ziyech because I have nothing to do with that man. This is not getting along like that. I'm not saying it's bad for Ziyech or bad for that trainer, but it doesn't work like that."

Former Liverpool winger Dirk Kuyt also compared Ziyech's situation with Werner's, adding: "He [Ziyech] scored in that FA Cup match against Manchester City. Then you think: well, he's through it.
"The next game: boom, on the bench. Then you look at Werner, who can do whatever he wants. He plays over and over. He scored against West Ham, but he could have made one more."
Werner ended a run of 17 games without a goal when he scored the winner against the Hammers on Saturday and Tuchel is hopeful that the forward can "catch the moment".
Speaking at his post-match press conference, Tuchel said: "He needs to keep scoring and catch the moment. He is quite often involved in our goals, even in the last weeks, by winning fouls in the penalty area or with assists like against Man City. But nothing helps more than a decisive goal."
