Marco Silva sends message to Everton fans after frustrating draw at Crystal Palace

Marco Silva has thanked the travelling Everton fans for their show of support after the Everton verdict - Seventh slips away after frustrating draw at Crystal Palace but Blues heading in right direction

The Blues dominated the game at Selhurst Park but were unable to score despite registering 22 attempts.

Silva and the Everton players went over to the 2,880 away supporters at the end to applaud their backing and, in return, got a reaction that has heartened the Portuguese coach.

Everton verdict - Seventh slips away after frustrating draw at Crystal Palace but Blues heading in right direction

"They were fantastic, like they are always," Silva said.

"It was fantastic support again and what they did for our players, at the end of the match, that means they can see what we did.

"We have tried everything and at the end of the match their reaction showed they did that and it is everything they want: giving our best, giving 100% on the pitch, trying everything and playing good football if we can also for them to enjoy and win matches.

"This is everything they want. Today we didn't win but all the other things we put on the pitch and, for sure, they go home not really happy because we didn't win but with the feeling that we tried everything and for them that is the most important thing."

Everton fans all use one word to describe draw at Crystal Palace

Everton controlled the game in south London but were unable to convert their dominance into three points.

The Blues hit the post twice, saw a Cenk Tosun back-heel brilliantly saved and were also guilty of wasting a number of openings.

"We deserved the three points," Silva declared. "It was clear we were the best team on the pitch and we tried everything to win the match.

"Two shots off the goal, a fantastic save from the goalkeeper and from the first minute we came here to dominate the game and you know how difficult it is to do that here.

Everton player ratings vs Crystal Palace - Idrissa Gueye impressive, but poor decisions cost Blues

"Being more clinical this afternoon we win this game clearly.

"We started the game with that chance for Dominic and after that we had three big, big chances to score.  We didn't score but our players tried everything and deserved more."
