Marco Silva questions VAR decisions 'impossible to explain' in Fulham draw with Manchester United

Marco Silva refused to be drawn into criticising VAR after Fulham were held to a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Craven Cottage.

Silva, who said he didn't "have the confidence to explain things that are impossible to explain", was left incensed by the decision not to disallow United's opening goal for a push by Leny Yoro on Calvin Bassey.

The Fulham boss also felt the decision to award United a first-half penalty, which Bruno Fernandes missed, after Bassey had hauled Mason Mount to the ground, shouldn't have stood following a VAR review as he believed Luke Shaw had fouled Rodrigo Muniz in the same move.

"Perhaps (United's goal should have been disallowed). Difficult to say something," Silva said.

"I think what I saw, I don't know how many people were here, 30, 40, 50, you saw the same as myself. Everybody that watched on TV, there were millions and millions for sure.

“All the world, they saw what happened here this afternoon in terms of their decisions. I will not say nothing more. I don't have the confidence to explain things that are impossible to explain."

Silva maintained he was proud of his players after Emile Smith Rowe came off the bench to rescue a point for Fulham, but was left perplexed by the officiating on display.

"They did unbelievably well when they saw the penalty," Silva continued.

"I think they (the officials) were amazing and we have to congratulate them."

Fulham remain winless this season, but will take encouragement from the way in which they were able to fight back after a dominant start from United.

The Whites, who host Bristol City on Wednesday night, now turn their attentions to the Carabao Cup
