Marco Silva provides Yerry Mina injury update as Everton defender races to face Tottenham

Marco Silva has confirmed Yerry Mina has trained with the rest of the Everton squad as he bids to be fit for the clash with Spurs this weekend.

The defender missed last weekend's trip to Brighton with a knee injury, but did return to the starting line-up for Tuesday's Carabao Cup win over Watford.

However, the 25-year-old suffered a recurrence of the issue which forced him to be substituted in the first half, leaving doubts over his fitness ahead of Sunday's meeting with Mauricio Pochettino's side.

But the boss has said a late decision will be made over the centre-back as he bids for full fitness.

"He worked with the team this morning," Silva confirmed.

"Like I said after the match it was nothing serious. We did the normal exams, we did again after the match and it's a matter of him having the conditions to support the pain he has.

"If he can do that he can train and, possibly, he can play as well.

"Today he did the whole session in the morning, let's see how he will react tomorrow and afterwards we will take the decision."

Silva also confirmed it was a collective decision to play Mina against Watford after not taking the risk against Brighton.

Everton have just three senior centre-back options, and the boss knows keeping them all in good physical condition is a top priority.

He added: "We didn't take the risk against Brighton, he travelled with us but stayed out of the squad list.

"He worked two days before the game against Watford and together we took the decision when we had the exam and the feedback.

"He felt a little bit of pain and again it was about not taking a big risk. Our solutions at centre-back are not a big number, you have to take care of them three and we did that.

"Michael came in at a good level and Mina rested for two days. Let's see how he will be tomorrow, it looks nothing special."
