Marco Silva offers hint for Kenya friendly as Everton manager introduces new faces to first-team training

Marco Silva has handed an opportunity to several Everton starlets in pre-season training this week.

The Blues returned to Finch Farm on Monday to begin preparations for the new Premier League campaign and head to Kenya on Friday to take on Kariobangi Sharks in their opening friendly of the summer.

With a large majority of the squad missing through international duty and extended breaks, Silva and new assistant manager Luis Boa Morte have introduced a handful of David Unsworth's under-23 players to senior training.

Double-winning captain Morgan Feeney, 20, has been joined by player of the season Nathan Broadhead , Fraser Hornby, Dennis Adeniran, Lewis Gibson, Ryan Astley and Antonee Robinson.

Robinson is said to be subject of a bid from Wigan Athletic after spending last season on loan at the DW Stadium.

Joe Anderson, meanwhile, has signed his first professional contract with the Blues.

Anderson shone at under-18 level last term and joins Ellis Simms and Manasse Mampala in making the step-up.

“To sign a professional deal for such a big club, you can’t ask for any more,” Anderson told evertonfc.com. “It was what I’ve dreamed of as a kid.

“My game has come on a lot since I joined Everton . At every level you are challenged, there is healthy competition for places and it improves you, because every player is giving it everything.

“Now I want to have a solid pre-season and, when I get a chance to play, to show what I can do. I want to pick off where I left off last season.”

Anderson's deal runs until 2020.
