Another Mexican fan favorite has been added to the UFC’s return to Mexico this fall.
Marco Polo Reyes will take on Kyle Nelson in a featherweight bout at UFC on ESPN+ 17, promotion officials announced Sunday.
UFC on ESPN+ 17 takes place Sept. 21 at Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City. The card streams on ESPN+.
Reyes (8-6 MMA, 4-3 UFC) has suffered back-to-back stoppage losses to Damir Hadzovic and Drew Dober, most recently at UFC on ESPN 3. He will drop down to 145 pounds in an attempt to bounce back in front of his home crowd when he takes on Nelson.
Canada’s Nelson (12-3 MMA, 0-2 UFC) has dropped his first two UFC appearances at the hands of Diego Ferreira and Matt Sayles, most recently at UFC on ESPN+ 9. He, too, will attempt to turn things around when he takes on knockout artist Reyes.
