Marco Pierre White is Out of the Kitchen and heading Down Under

He’s been dubbed the first ‘celebrity chef’, the enfant terrible of the UK restaurant scene and the only person to make Gordon Ramsay quake in his boots.

Renowned chef, restaurateur, author and TV personality Marco Pierre White is headed Down Under, bringing to Australian audiences his very first live tour, Out of the Kitchen.

The White Heat author will discuss everything live on stage – from arriving in London from the north of England with “£7.36, a box of books and a bag of clothes” to his classical training as a commis chef with Albert and Michael Roux at Le Gavroche.

At just 33, White became the first British chef (and the youngest) to be awarded three Michelin Stars. Since then he’s inspired some of the biggest personalities in the cooking.

Curtis Stone and Shannon Bennett both trained with him, as did Heston Blumenthal, Gordon Ramsay and Mario Batali.

Then, at the height of his career, Marco Pierre White surprised the entire foodie world by stepping back from the stove and giving back his Michelin stars.

Despite his departure from the kitchen, he has continued to inspire, with restaurants dotted across the world that fulfil his ethos of ‘affordable glamour’ as well as various television stints including as a principal judge in MasterChef Australia: The Professionals series.

Jock Zonfrillo, MasterChef judge and restaurateur, says that “of all the chefs I worked for, he was the greatest teacher”.

The Australian tour will kick off on Tuesday, May 25 in Brisbane before heading to Sydney on Thursday, May 25 and Melbourne on Tuesday, May 30.

In addition, for one night only, White will head to the Gold Coast to join Palette executive chef Dayan Hartill-Law to co-curate an incredible four-course menu embracing top-tier locally sourced ingredients, paired with exceptional wines.

Details of the menu are under wraps for the moment, but guests can certainly be assured of a five-star dining experience.

Diners will also get the chance to get up close and personal with White, watching him in action from Palette’s kitchen followed by a 15-20 minute Q&A.

It promises to be a sensational foodie collaboration.
