Maurizio Sarri has insisted that Marco Ianni will remain a member of Chelsea's backroom staff but says the club will accept any punishment from the Football Association.

Ianni has been charged by the FA with improper conduct for his behaviour at the end of Chelsea's 2-2 draw against Manchester United on Saturday.

The 35-year-old was seen celebrating wildly in front of Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, who reacted angrily and it led to an ugly melee by the tunnel.

Ianni has until 6pm tomorrow to appeal, but Sarri says Chelsea will not contest any findings.

He said: "I want him to respect the decision of the FA and then we will decide (what happens next).

Mourinho defends Chelsea coach Marco Ianni

"I was there when Marco spoke to Mr Mourinho, he said sorry and it was very important that he realised he was wrong.

"I think I want to give him another opportunity. I know very well the man, I know he was really sorry. He realised the mistake.

"Everybody can make a mistake, but you need to learn from a mistake. He will be able to do it. I am sure.

"For the FA I don't know the consequence (punishment), but we were wrong so we have to accept the consequences."
