Marco Asensio makes Real Madrid promise amid continued transfer rumours

Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio vowed both he and Real Madrid would return stronger following a disappointing season.

Asensio has been the subject of interest from Premier League clubs, with his agent having claimed Real Madrid turned down bids of 180million euros for him last summer.

He has been linked with potential moves to Liverpool , Chelsea and Tottenham .

But the 23-year-old has vowed to stay and help Real Madrid bounce back from a disappointing season.

Madrid finished a distant third in La Liga - eight points behind Atletico Madrid and a whopping 19 behind Barcelona - and were knocked out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage by Ajax.

He said on Instagram : "A complicated season, which has been full of difficulties, has finished.

"It was far from the level that our marvellous fans deserve."

With Zinedine Zidane now in the hotseat, Asensio is confident Real will become a force to be reckoned with once again.

He continued: "We will pick ourselves up, we will get better and we will give our all so that Madrid fans will be able to enjoy their team again next season [as we look to] return your unconditional support and love.

"We promise to fight with renewed energy for every cup until the end."Madrid always comes back. Hala Madrid!"
