The French-made film March of the Penguins has become the latest tool for the US Christian right, which claims it is evidence of "Intelligent Design". Christiananswers.net gives it a "Moral Rating: Better than average" and reassures its readers: "Profanity: None. Sex/nudity: The penguins mate during the film; but it is understood, not shown," writes Ben Rooney
But the US commentator Andrew Sullivan points out: "The emperor penguins featured in the movie have a very low monogamy habit. From year to year, only 15% of the blokes mate with the same, er, chick."
"This male penguin couple at a California zoo are so good at taking care of eggs that the zoo actually takes eggs from the straight penguin couples and deposits them in the gay penguins' nest. They give the straight penguins rocks instead." Not to mention the lesbian penguins in Germany ...
