March for Independence Edinburgh: Full list of road closures ahead of rally on Saturday

Thousands of people are expected to join a pro-independence march in Edinburgh this weekend.

The All Under One Banner (AUOB) group are organising a procession, from Holyrood Park to the Meadows, this Saturday (October 5).

The march will kick off at 1:00pm and there are a number of city centre road closures in place from midday until the evening, which are likely to cause disruption.

Road closures

These roads will be closed to traffic from 12-6:30pm:

  • Queen's Drive
  •  Horse Wynd
  • Abbeyhill - Canongate
  • New Street
  • High Street (police holding traffic at North and South Bridge)
  • Lawnmarket
  • George IV Bridge
  • Forrest Road
  • Potterrow,
  • Teviot Place
  • Lauriston Place

More than 8,000 people have so far indicated they are going on the Facebook even here.

'We anticipate up to 200,000'

Neil Mackay, founder of AUOB who is organising the march, previously told Edinburgh Live: "We have worked closely with Edinburgh council and Police Scotland to ensure the best possible success of this magnificent demonstration.

"We anticipate up to 200,000 on the big day at #TheBigOne."
